Before I go into the details here are the flat-out statistics as to whether or not marriage counseling works.
FACT: less than 10% of couples that go to marriage counseling report that marriage counseling has helped their marriage.
FACT: as much as 90% of couples that go to marriage counseling still end up getting divorced.
So statistically speaking the question ‘does marriage counseling work?’ comes back with a big fat NO.
